Letter from the President

On September 15th, 2008, Babe Ruth Baseball, Inc. Headquarters at Trenton, NJ in conjunction with All Star Baseball Academy from the Delaware Valley in Pennsylvania announced the creation of the National Collegiate Showcase.

The purpose of this combined endeavor is to offer opportunities for the high school age aspirants to display their baseball talents and skills for Collegiate Baseball Coaches, College Recruiters and Professional Scouts.  The Collegiate Showcase will be held at the Babe Ruth, Inc. National Complex in Newark, Ohio.  Located in the heartland of America, it will provide close proximity to the forty-eight contiguous states in the USA.

Babe Ruth Baseball from its inception in 1951 has over one million active players in its program with over 56,000 teams at ages 4-18.  This will be the second annual showcase intended primarily for Babe Ruth Baseball players.  The Showcase represents natural extension of Babe Ruth, Inc. committed to players and assisting them in the pursuit to play in college.  All Star Baseball Academy began in 1998 and has become the leader in baseball player development in Pennsylvania and the surrounding areas.  Together they will present a top program of showcasing talent at a modern facility in Newark.  In addition to showcasing for recruiters, All Star Baseball Academy can provide College-Ready programs for those participants who may desire this information.  Steven M. Tellefsen, President/CEO of Babe Ruth League, Inc. and Jim Freeman, Owner/Chairman of All Star Baseball Academy are proud to create this Collegiate Baseball Showcase for 2010.

Babe Ruth League’s Complex is a state-of-the-art game facility with four major league diamonds.  Two diamonds, Diamond 1 and 2, have quality minor league lighting systems and grandstand seating for thousands of fans.  In addition, there is ample parking, a concession stand, restroom facilities, four batting cages and indoor facilities for workouts which are located in-house or close by at indoor facilities in case of inclement weather.  Hotels in Newark, Ohio are available with quality rooms and rates.

Players should head for Newark, Ohio to get thorough training, game experience, in-depth evaluations and information to improve their overall play as well as sound counseling for the game and academic opportunities.  Prepare yourself instead of making poor choices for your future.  Parents, coaches, recruiters and scouts will be heading to Newark because they can observe, work and be comfortable with excellent facilities to judge talent from a wide prospective.

Parents and players must try to realize that the popularity of youth baseball in America by freshmen, sophomores and juniors in high school is causing recognition by national scouting services, college coaches and recruiters in general.  Do not be caught short, quality players are taking this recruitment seriously as they pursue baseball and college opportunities.  At the Babe Ruth/All Star Baseball Academy National Showcase, all major collegiate conferences will be in attendance.  Players from ages 15-18 will be eligible to attend and are open to all Babe Ruth League participants as well as all other amateur baseball players.

The dates for the National Collegiate Showcase at the Newark, Ohio Complex is August 21st and 22nd, 2010.  Make your plans early to ensure placement at this unique recruiting event!
