All Star Baseball Adds New Employees
All Star Baseball Academy had a very successful year in 2009 and we would like to thank our customers for their energetic support of our baseball training programs, camps, clinics, and showcase events. With four locations in the Philadelphia area, All Star Baseball Academy (ASBA) has grown at a fast pace by offering expert individual instruction, group training, and nationally-recognized showcase events to serve the needs of baseball players from ages 5 to 18.
To best serve our expanding base of customers, ASBA is pleased to welcome new employees to our growing team. Several employees have also moved to new positions to support our customized programs and growth. All Star Baseball Academy is well-positioned and ready to serve your baseball training goals in 2010 and beyond. Please welcome these new ASBA employees and those in new positions at ASBA:
Steve Van Note, formerly Manager of the ASBA location in Broomall, has been named Director of Special Programs. Van Note will run the popular series of College Coaches Camps for All Star Baseball Academy, including instructional and showcase camps and clinics. He is a 2004 graduate of the University of Delaware, where he won the Blue Hen Sportsmanship Award and also was named baseball team MVP. Van Note played for the Harwich Mariners in the Cape Cod Baseball League and starred at third base for the professional Lancaster Barnstormers in 2006 and 2007. He was named an Atlantic League All-Star for the Barnstormers in 2007.
Van Note will plan and coordinate an expanding roster of ASBA College Coaches Camps for players 13-18 years of age who are interested in playing baseball at the college level. He resides in West Chester.
Todd Davison, also a University of Delaware graduate, has taken over for Van Note as the new Manager of the Broomall facility for ASBA. Todd was a star shortstop for the Blue Hens, and is on the all-time leaders list for games played (222), assists, doubles and hits.
Davison was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles and played for three years in the Orioles' farm system. He also played for one year in the professional Atlantic League for the Bridgeport Bluefish.
Matt Catania will be working closely with Todd as the new Assistant Manager of the Broomall location. Catania resides in Newtown Square and is a graduate of Cardinal O'Hara High School, where he was baseball team captain and starred at shortstop for four years. He was also named All Delco and All-Catholic League, in addition to being honored as the Defensive Player of the Year in 2005 for O'Hara.
Catania has also been a successful coach in the Newtown-Edgmont Little League program, helping to coach special needs athletes in the Challenger Division. He is a Dickinson College graduate and earned four varsity letters as a shortstop and team captain.
Jake King moves from Broomall to assume the Assistant Manager position at the growing ASBA location in West Chester. King played high school baseball in Utah aand starred as a pitcher for the College of Eastern Utah and Bellevue University. He joined ASBA in April of 2009 and has given private lessons, coached tournament teams, and coordinated multiple programs and team clinics at Broomall.
King will be assisting Manager Mark Freed at the ASBA location in West Chester.
Ryan Gilmorehas been named Assistant Manager of the All Star Baseball Academy facility in Hatboro, which serves the Bucks and Montgomery County areas. Gilmore is from Audubon, NJ and starred in baseball and other sports at Audubon High School. After graduation from Rowan University, he has successfully coached basketball, soccer, and baseball at Audubon and Paul VI high schools in NJ.
Gilmore was a standout second baseman in high school, starting and playing every inning for four consecutive years. He served as team captain and was named Male Athlete of the Year in his senior season. At ASBA, Gilmore will work with Manager John Bellis to support the instructional needs of players in the Hatboro, Willow Grove, and Warminster areas.
Ken Leidheiser has joined All Star Baseball Academy as the Director of Marketing and Communications. He will coordinate and direct the company's marketing plans and communications across all of the locations. Leidheiser grew up in the Wayne area and has coached baseball, basketball, and soccer for many years in Wayne and West Chester. He was Sports Editor of The Suburban newspaper in Wayne before working in technology sales for many years.
Leidheiser serves as Editor of "The Dugout" newsletter, which is now delivered to allASBA families six times per year. He is also responsible for all external communications, including press releases, brochures, and announcements to the media. He now resides in Glen Mills.
Garrett Lestochi is a new Sales Representative for ASBA, working from the headquarters location in West Chester. Lestochi is a proud graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania, (IUP) where he starred as a running back on the football team. He grew up near Altoona, PA and played football, basketball, and baseball as a multiple sports star at Bishop Guilfoyle High School.
Lestochi was a four-year letterwinner on the IUP football team, served as team captain and won the team's Offensive MVP Award. For ASBA, he will be responsible for the continued growth of the College Coaches Camps, as well as the expanding set of clinics and showcase events such as the Babe Ruth Regional and National Events coming up in 2010.
