COLLEGIATE SHOWCASE SERIES — MID-ATLANTIC EVENT GETS HIGH MARKS FROM PLAYERS

All Star Baseball Academy held the Mid-Atlantic Showcase Event on July 22-23 at Blue Rocks Stadium in Wilmington, Delaware. This event was part of ASBA’s popular Collegiate Showcase Series for players who are 15 to 18 years of age.

Nearly 100 area players attended the Showcase to display their baseball talents in front of a large group of college coaches and recruiting coordinators. The event was held over two days at the first-class Blue Rocks Stadium, with skill evaluations and live games carried out to help the players maximize their visibility to regional colleges.

Colleges participating at the Mid-Atlantic Showcase included: James Madison, Northeastern, Hofstra, William and Mary, Delaware, George Mason, Old Dominion, UNC Wilmington, Towson, and Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU).

“We had a great group of college coaches participating from schools in the Mid-Atlantic region, and the talent level of the players was very good,” said Creighton Gubanich, On Field Coordinator from All Star Baseball and a former Major League catcher.

Area players got the opportunity to showcase their hitting, fielding, and throwing talents and also showed off their speed in two sets of a 60 yard dash. On the second day, players were divided up into four teams and played “live games” against pitchers throwing their best stuff. The college coaches were also divided up to run their respective teams, and two college coaches were in each dugout.

The Showcase helped players connect with regional colleges of interest, and served to increase their skill development as well as their visibility across an excellent group of schools.
