ALL STAR BASEBALL HOSTS WESTERN PA COLLEGE COACHES CAMP AT INDIANA, PA

All Star Baseball Academy hosted an instructional College Coaches Camp in Indiana, PA on Saturday, November 20th. The event was well-attended by area players, ages 13 to 18, and a great group of college coaches gave key skills training over the two sessions of the Camp.

The event drew over 100 players from the Western PA and Central PA area, and was held indoors in the first-class facilities at the White Township Athletic Complex, near the campus of Indiana University of PA (IUP).

Players got tips on hitting, fielding, throwing, pitching and catching and how to move their individual games to the next level. Players received individual instruction and also worked in groups, by position. “This was a very successful Camp and we drew players from a wide geographic area,” said Creighton Gubanich of All Star Baseball Academy. “The group of coaches that we had on hand was super, and players were able to pick up key tips and skills training during the morning and afternoon sessions.”

Colleges participating with coaches and recruiting coordinators included: Penn State, University of Virginia, IUP, Washington and Jefferson College, California of PA, Unversity of CIncinnati, and the the University of Pittsburgh.

Hitting was a major focus in the afternoon session with everything from live cage work to bunting and small group mechanical sessions. The morning session was focused on pitchers and catchers, and there were quite a few impressive prospects at the Camp!

“We had a great group of players and a super staff of coaches at the Western PA camp,” said Gubanich. “We had Division I coaches such as Penn State, Pitt, UC and UVA. But we also had local schools like IUP who participated with their coaches and gave excellent skills instruction. We received very good feedback on the Camp and look to do more camps in Western PA in the future.”
